Shore Leave in Liverpool: How to Make the Most of Your Time in Port

Welcome to Liverpool! Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a regular at our docks, getting off the ship for a few hours (if possible) is a great way to recharge your batteries. To ensure your shore leave is smooth, safe, and stress-free, we’ve put together this quick guide on how to use the Liverpool Seafarers Centre (LSC) services.

Safety First: Leaving the Vessel

Before you step ashore, there are some strict port safety rules you need to follow. Your safety is our priority!

  • Gear Up: You must wear a high-viz vest or coat and a hard hat when leaving the vessel. If you are at a scrap berth, safety boots are also mandatory.

  • Stay onboard if waiting for our minibus: Do not step onto the quayside until the Liverpool Seafarers Minibus minibus has arrived. Please wait safely on your vessel.

  • Storage: Don't worry about carrying your gear around town—all PPE can be left at the pickup point or inside the vehicle.

Getting Around: Liverpool Seafarers Centre Minibus

We provide complimentary transport to the City Centre, local supermarkets, the Seafarers Centre, and even the occasional trip to our iconic football stadiums.

How to Book

  • Plan Ahead: Book via phone, SMS, WhatsApp, or email.

  • Don’t contact us via Facebook Messenger: Our Facebook Messenger inbox isn’t monitored therefore we don’t want to miss your request.

  • Be Patient: We aren't a private taxi service. Delays can happen, so please bear with us. We are not able to always fulfil requests.

  • Be Punctual: Agreed times must be kept. If your return time changes, call us immediately so we can adjust the schedule.

Note: Our limit is 8 passengers. For very small groups, we may suggest the local bus or train to help keep the minibus available for larger crews.

Your Home Away From Home: The Centre

If you want to relax without walking around the city, come visit us at the Centre! We have everything you need to unwind - like a home from home!

  • Games & Fun: Pool table, table football, music, and Karaoke.

  • Relaxation: A licensed bar, TV/movie entertainment, and a library with worldwide newspapers and a DVD/CD exchange.

  • Peace & Quiet: We have a dedicated Quiet Area and Chapel. If you would like to speak with our Chaplaincy Team, just let us know.

  • Friendly Faces: Our team of volunteers is always here for a chat and happy to help with whatever you need.
