Liverpool Seafarers Centre Named One of the UK’s Best Workplaces for Wellbeing™ 2026
Liverpool Seafarers Centre (LSC) is proud to announce that we have been officially recognised as one of the UK’s Best Workplaces for Wellbeing™ 2026 by Great Place To Work®!
This prestigious award marks our third recognition from Great Place To Work®, following our inclusions in both the UK’s Best Workplaces™ and UK’s Best Workplaces for Hospitality™ lists.
Being named on this exclusive list acknowledges our commitment to creating a consistently positive employee and volunteering experience.
Supporting the Team Behind the Mission
Every day, our staff, chaplains, drivers, and volunteers go above and beyond for the 21,500 international seafarers who dock across the Port of Liverpool, Garston, Birkenhead, and the Manchester Ship Canal annually.
Life at sea means months of isolation, fatigue, and distance from loved ones. Across 2,200 ship visits a year, our team steps in to provide a warm Scouse welcome—delivering free port-side transport, digital SIM cards, emergency medical escorts, surplus food provisions, and essential pastoral care.
To deliver that level of compassionate support all year, our aim is to support our charities most valuable asset - our people.
Through staff training we provided specialised trauma-informed active listening training through the International Christian Maritime Association (ICMA), prioritising mental health resources, and ensuring every team member feels valued, heard, and empowered.
Setting an Example in Maritime Care
Earning three distinct Great Place To Work® awards proves that employee well-being, personal development, and having a supportive workplace are embedded in the very core of how we operate as a frontline charity.
A massive, heartfelt thank you to our amazing staff and volunteers - your dedication, empathy, and daily input shape the human heart of our Centre.
We look forward to using the valuable insights provided by Great Place To Work® to continue building on our workplace culture, ensuring Liverpool Seafarers Centre remains a beacon of care—both for our team on land and the seafarers at sea.
